Yes, the photo (not mine) shows the city I was in. Chicago. Went to visit mom and help her deal with a thing. And she’s fine, by the way. It’s just that her story isn’t mine to tell. And given mom, if you don’t know her you will never know the story. Get used to it.

During the week I was gone Tinkerbelle continued to improve, at least in theory. She’s started demanding walks, and even got out a chew toy while Anne was out at rehearsal. At the moment we’re waiting to hear the latest hematocrit number from the vet. The sample was taken yesterday, and the results are due any time, but they haven’t yet called. Probably a busy day over there.

I’m spending some time catching up on the backlog that built up while I was out of town. Many things were delayed or done differently because I had only my laptop and not the “big” desktop machine I usually use. It will take more than a day of dedicated effort to catch back up.

There is a bit more progress on the kitchen renovation, though. I think all the documents are assembled and will go off to the District (city) to request the permit soon. The architect has told them we want to do that, and in a few days we should be given the needed information to submit the plans. Then we wait for some number of weeks — estimated at six to nine — for the permit to be issued, but that is only if all goes well. If they get picky about something, who knows.

Ideally they will just say “yes” given we’re not changing the exterior, size and we’re not doing anything structural. But I have no experience with these folks, and there are horror stories out there, so… yeah. We wait.

I suspect that is all I have to share this week. Sorry to be boring yet again, but that’s the way things go.

And really, just how exciting should life actually be? I suggest that boring can be very good. ;)

Cheers!
