So Few Answers…

Hey there.

Last week I asked a bunch of questions. Today I’ll go over the answers I have so far.

  1. Hows Tinkerbelle? That’s a tough one. When we reduced her Prednisone dose she stopped making red blood cells again. We learned that last Friday afternoon. In consultation with the vet we have raised the dose back up and are waiting two more weeks to see things get back into the normal range. Then we get to start looking into immune suppressing drugs, as it seems she has some kind of autoimmune problem. I’d really like to get her off the Prednisone because she’s losing muscle in her back end despite being ravenous and eating more than she did before this happened. In any case, we won’t know the next step for another week.
  2. What’s up with the house? We’re still waiting for the hazardous materials test results. Nothing new to share.
  3. What else is up with the house? The photo above shows the shipping container that now sits on our driveway. It’s still empty, but it’s there. I need to get this post written and sent so I can get started loading things into it before it begins to rain for the next month.
  4. What’s going to happen with the BC Provincial election? No one really knows yet. The election happened and the results are in. There are three parties that won seats: the New Democrats (46), the Conservatives (45), and the Greens (2). There are two ridings (electoral districts) where the vote counts differ by less than 100 votes, and they automatically get recounted starting tomorrow. Once that’s done, there might be judicial recounts as well, which could delay the final results even longer. At some point the results will be finalized and the King’s representative — the lieutenant governor — will ask the party that won the most seats to form a government. At the moment that’s the NDP, but the recounts could change that since things are so close. There is reason to suspect that the Greens will not support a government by the Conservatives, and the NDP definitely won’t. Things get complicated in interesting ways in the British parliamentary system, so we’ll just have to keep waiting to see how things go.
  5. What’s going to happen in the US election? Still no clue.
  6. Where does all the time go? It’s still the case that no one knows.
  7. What else is keeping you busy? The monthly email is still bearing down on me, so there’s that. And the packing. But last week we were also hit by an atmospheric river that walloped the area with rain. We had well over ten inches of rain in 36 hours. There was localized flooding in various places, though we were fine. The water feature in the backyard did try to overflow, though. I had to get the hoses out and pump it down a bit to avoid a huge mess, so that was exciting.
  8. Will we find indications of life on Europa? We’re all still waiting.
  9. Will I ever have these posts written in advance? The answer here is still “no”.

Reviewing that list it’s easy to see that there really aren’t any new answers. A whole week with very little change. Whee.

But that’s life these days. I am amazed that anything gets done at all.

With luck we’ll know the hazardous materials test results next week, and a lot more packing will be done. Fingers crossed!
