The Beginning of the End?

I looked it up. That photo is Group A Streptococcus — the bug that causes strep throat — in a colorized scanning electron microscope image. That is not the disease I have.

That’s right, it’s still with me, more than two full weeks after initial symptoms, but I am definitely getting better. I don’t think I’m contagious anymore, and the only symptoms that remain are a slight scratchy throat and a bit of a runny nose. Both of those appear (or get worse) in the late afternoon, apparently after I have used up all of my readily available energy for the day.

The ongoing illness means last week was yet another less than sterling example of how I’d like to live my life. Lots of sitting around and not a lot of doing things. But the newest monthly email is out to my proofreaders now, and it gets sent out on Monday morning. So at least I did accomplish that.

You’d think I’d have had plenty of time to reflect on things or perhaps catch up on my reading, but you would be wrong. When sick, I am a lousy example of how to live life to the fullest. I go to the opposite extreme and wind up living life to the emptiest. In other words, I have nothing to show for this experience.

I’ve encountered others who’ve been hammered by a nasty bug of some kind recently, so at least I am not alone.

Assuming my recovery continues, in the coming week I will go to a district council workshop where they will be discussing the latest rules about housing development. (As part of their efforts to create more housing, the province has decided that single family home zoning is no longer a thing. That has caused some consternation among the populace, and each city is having to work through how to deal with that.) And if I get really crazy I will schedule a haircut. Other than that, if I am feeling well I really need to get started on something bigger… painting the entryway or something. Dunno.

I hope your lives are fulfilling and as busy as you want them to be.
